Follow the Mormon Trail/Oregon Trail/Pony Express Route – The Mormon Trail starts in Omaha basically follows the north side of the Platte River west eventually nearly merging with the Oregon Trail. The Oregon Trail comes into Nebraska near Beatrice and near Kearney begins to follow the Platte and North Platte River into Wyoming. The Pony Express Route follows a similar route to the Oregon Trail with a dip into northeast Colorado near Julesburg along the South Platte River before turning back north to follow the North Platte River into Wyoming.
