Pre-Conference Tour to "Lincoln Land in Springfield"(June 30, 2022 8:30 AM - 4 PM) $70 (REGISTRATION NOW CLOSED)

Springfield, Illinois – Home of President Abraham Lincoln.

Arrive Wednesday and get a good night sleep following the "IFYE Night at the Corn Crib" sponsored by the Illinois Corn Growers Association and the Illinois Soybean Association. 

Remember to have breakfast (not included in the tour or conference fee) so you will be fueled for a day-long trip to Springfield, IL visiting some of the most interesting and educational sites of "Lincoln Land." 

Your first stop will be at the Lincoln Tomb where the body of President Abraham Lincoln is interred, followed by Downtown Springfield and the Lincoln Home National Historic Site which preserves the Springfield, Illinois home and related historic district where Abraham Lincoln lived from 1844 to 1861 before becoming the 16th president of the United States. The presidential memorial includes the four blocks surrounding the home and a visitor center. 

Tour sites included in this day's sightseeing also include:

  • the area near the Abraham Lincoln Museum and Old State House for lunch (covered in your tour cost).
  • the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum which documents the life of the 16th U.S. president and the course of the American Civil War. The museum ranks as one of the most-visited presidential libraries.

If time allows, you will have a short period of free time to cross the street to the Lincoln Library or visit the Old State House.

After a day of walking and learning about one of the most revered presidents of the USA, we’ll go back to Uptown Normal to the Marriott where you can put up your feet for a bit before the conference officially kicks off around 5:30 PM.
 

Note: if you are on the pre-conference tour, you will be unable to participate in the service project at the Midwest Food Bank. More information regarding an additional opportunity to participate in a service project will be announced at a later date.
